Bamboo Blade - 6 Posted on by Eddie
bamboo6_1.gif
Make like a ninja and-

The focus is on Tama-chan today. The matches between the two clubs begin, but Ishida has a plan. Since their team has only four players, he has come up with a way to have Tamaki compete twice, both first and last. She would face the first opponent at only 50% of her power level, and then sneak out of the place, and come back later in a disguise, pretending to be their fifth player.

bamboo6_2.gif
Foolproof guise

Thanks to her saving the falling professor early on with her Kendo skills, she manages to already have a disguise prepared. His glasses. Hey look, a girl with glass-MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE. Couldn’t fail, if you ask me. In the meantime, we get to see several epic battles, including Miya-Miya’s loss, Sayako’s tie, and Kirino’s win.

bamboo6_3.gif
BUREEIBA!

However, what were mostly interested in is the final battle starring Ta-I mean, BUREIBA! Yes, having trouble coming up with a name for his fifth player Ishida managed to blurt out Bureiba, the name of a Blade Braver, perfect for Tamaki. Needless to say, it was very exciting, and also very short, too short for her opponent’s liking.

The show leaves us with a very interesting premise for the next episode. The other teacher Ishibashi, has noticed her great skill and challenges her himself to a match.

Kaiji - 8 Posted on by Eddie
kaiji8_1.gif
The Fall of Man

Funai is reluctant to accept Kaiji’s gamble of five stars, though his options are limited. Funai has only one card left, but nine stars. However, he if he doesn’t get rid of his card he will lose. So, he calls out to Mr. X, the unknown man with the three scissors, and makes a proposal that he will give Mr. X the stars necessary to survive if he plays.

However, Kaiji reminds Funai of a very important fact. Earlier on in the game, a man was thrown out for trying to flush his cards down the toilet, which is against the rules. Those three cards were most likely the three scissors, which had not been removed from the scoreboard. Thus, there was no Mr. X. Funai must play Kaiji.

However, Funai argues that Kaiji is in the same bind as he, and counters with only a three star offer, and that Kaiji could just buy the final stars necessary to survive. Kaiji refuses, stating that he will take Funai to hell with him if he has to.

kaiji8_2.gif
This show is full of wusses.

It turns out that not counting Funai’s card, that leaves 66 cards left on the field. For Kaiji to play Funai, that would bring Kaiji’s count down to 65. The major problem with this is that that even after cancelling out their cards, there would be one card remaining. One person from Kaiji’s group is destined to fall (realizing this, Furahata crys like an emo kid).

Funai, realizing that Kaiji has nothing to lose, gives in to the deal. Kaiji then tells Furahata and Andou his plan. He would give Furahata and Ando the five stars, giving Andou a total of five and Furahata a total of four. That leaves Kaiji with one star. Kaiji then gives Furahata a single card: the card with which Furahata will take Kaiji’s final star.

kaiji8_3.gif
Hey, those aren’t showerheads!

Kaiji is stripped and stuck in the next room with a lot of other pitiful naked failures, and awaits his fate. He is counting on Furahata and Andou to buy back his freedom with their three of their extra stars. However, he gets a bad feeling about it, which turns out to be correct yet again. Furahata sells one of his stars for five million, reasoning that they still have three left to buy Kaiji’s freedom.

kaiji8_4.gif
I HATE YOU FAT BASTARD ASSHOLE ANDOU.

However, he wasn’t counting on Andou being a greedy dickwad, who decides that he no longer wants to give up his stars or his money, and refuses to help Furahata save Kaiji. I must say if I was there I would be whipping Andou’s ass so hard that he gets a pink sock.

Hopefully Furahata will come up with a way to acquire two extra stars and save Kaiji. This was a really great episode, and twists like this make this a really good anime. I hope Andou burns in hell, and hopefully my wish will be granted in the coming episode. Speaking of coming episode, it’s amazing that they’re able to stretch out four hours of game time this long. It’s kind of like the show 24 but broken up into five minute segments. I will be amazed if they can actually make it to the 26 episodes that the show is supposed to run just in this arc.

Kaiji - 7 Posted on by Eddie
kaiji7_1.gif

In order to avoid guaranteed failure Kaiji is forced to join Funai’s group and have his 69 card shuffled and redistributed. This sets Kaiji and his two pals back a few places since now they won’t have an advantage with their cards.

Everyone shuffles the deck, starting and ending with Funai. Then, Funai deals out the cards to each of the players in the amounts that they had put in. This leads to everyone getting their cards and immediately starting to play, except for Kaiji and his team, as Funai gives them a slight handicap with the following gesture.

kaiji7_2.gif

Once Kaiji’s team has collected all of their cards and recounted, he notices something. They possess all 34 of the remaining papers in the game. Which leaves only rocks and five scissors left out in the open. Kaiji also notices something odd. The players who had only one card are not playing. After a brief struggle between Kaiji and Funai over who gets to play a person with only one card, Funai lets something slip that confirms Kaiji’s suspicions: prey.

Funai had rigged it from the start. Other than the papers which only Kaiji had, there were only scissors and rocks left on the floor. Three of the scissors were possessed by a Mr. X one of the non-playing players in the “graveyard” with all of the others with no cards and less than three stars. Not counting Kaiji’s, that left only three scissors on the floor. The reason why the one-carded players weren’t playing is that they likely only had a scissor, and since they knew that Kaiji had all of the papers (due to Funai’s kind gesture above), they knew they couldn’t win.

Kaiji confronted Funai and essentially destroyed any chances he had with the following revelations:

1) Funai wanted all of the cards to be reshuffled so he could see what everyone had, and what he could work with. This way he would find out his would-be prey.

2) While Funai did let everyone else shuffle the cards, it was irrelevant, as he was the first and last person to shuffle. Additionally, when redistributing the the cards, he did it in a “random” order, which was actually not random at all.

3) Funai marked the scissors with a scratch, so he could give them to the people with one card. He then insured that he recieved rocks, while Kaiji received all of the papers. That way, he could pick off those with only scissors.

Now that Funai was out of the way temporarily, Kaiji had to come up with a way to get stars in the remaining few minutes. He devised a do-or-die way where the other player would pick which card Kaiji would play, in order to make it random. Kaiji would take one of each type, place them on the table and shuffle them.

However, it turns out that the reason for this was not just to get more stars. In fact, Kaiji lost them. However, it was gain leverage against Funai in order to make an even greater wager.

Still Busy Posted on by Eddie

Uploading that is! Bwahahahaa. Anyway, there’s only one more week of school before finals, and then I will have all Christmas break to shower you with love and updates. Until then, I will continue this social experiment to find out exactly how much anime you can upload before Dreamhost gets pissed off (Luckily, in this event, I have everything mirrored to another location.).

Anyway, I have uploaded quite a few gigs in the last day:

Dragonaut: The Resonance 1-9
Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny 1-12
Kimikiss: Pure Rouge 1-8
Minami-ke 1-6
Rental Magica 1-8
Shigurui 1-6

Coming Soon: Akagi, Baccano, Kasimasi (+ updates of all existing anime and hopefully more LOGH).

BTW: Feel free to point out any broken links as well as feedback/reminding me about new episodes. Also requests by those who post on the forums will be given priority (sticking to mostly unlicensed anime for general public).

I have uploaded:

Bamboo Blade 6-7
Kaiji 7-8

Another Batch Of Anime Posted on by Eddie

I’ve been busy recently with Thanksgiving break, and since I’m nearing the end of the semester at college, I have not a lot of time due to projects and exams. So, I decided to make up for a lack of updates with just another batch of uploads. I will still continue to post for each episode, but until then you can just download them and view for yourself.

I’ve added:

Charge!! Otokojuku! 1-6
Legend of Galactic Heroes Movie 1
Legend of Galactic Heroes Gaiden 1-3 (OVA)
Legend of Galactic Heroes 1-10 (out of 110 once I upload them)

If you notice the above anime are not new, but more retro/classic, that being retro manliness explosion and classic space opera. I will also at least get up the new Bamboo Blade, Kaiji, and Moyashimon in the next coming week. Also, if you haven’t read the Anime Download page, I will upload Akagi, which is an anime by the creators of Kaiji, so if you like Kaiji you will notice the similarities and possibly like Akagi as well. I’ll also start a few other series that are currently running, including Dragonaut, Kimikiss, and possibly Gundam 00.

I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master Posted on by Allen
esc.GIF
Octa Album Art

The title of Electric Six’s new album wields one of the most impressive names I’ve ever come across. I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master(or ISEEAMTRMFBTM as I shall fondly refer to it), is a fantastic ride on an intense electro-rock train. The genre its listed as rock but after tasting the first three songs of the album its easy to tell that to call call this a rock album is clearly a restricting mislabel. In the tunes they play the Electric Six exhibit elements of techno, electric, garage, and punk. The ISEEAMTRMFBTM album contains a listing of sixteen tracks all of which have names that closely rival the curiosity of the album name. Highlights and my favorite tracks are listed below in bold text.

  1. “It’s Showtime!” 1:53
  2. “Down at McDonnellzzzzz” 4:01
  3. “Dance Pattern” 3:41
  4. “Rip It!” 3:37
  5. “Feed My Fuckin’ Habit” 2:11
  6. “Riding On The White Train” 2:48
  7. “Broken Machine” 3:16
  8. “When I Get To The Green Building” 3:54
  9. “Randy’s Hot Tonight” 3:04
  10. “Kukuxumushu” 3:51
  11. “I Don’t Like You” 2:53
  12. “Lucifer Airlines” 2:49
  13. “Lenny Kravitz” 3:06
  14. “Fabulous People” 2:27
  15. “Sexy Trash” 2:08
  16. Dirty Looks” 4:46

While on the topic of numbers and listings, it’s important to note that the duration of the CD is uncommonly impressive in these days with albums that barely push 35 minutes. ISEEAMTRMFBTM clocks in at 50:33 minutes.

After 50+ minutes of listening to this album for quite some time I believe one of the best ways to approach reviewing this album is to point out its shortcomings. To start off my largest gripe about this album is the lacking of musical diversity within each track. In any given song the repetition of certain chorus lines and musical ideas tends to grow annoying as time and repetition go on. So while there are large difference in the music between tracks once you listen to a perticular song for any prolonged duration of time the lack of change tends to become slightly irritating. Great examples of the problematic lack in track dynamics can be found by listening to the songs”Dance Pattern” and “Broken Machine”.

Speaking of problems, the only other one that I have with ISEEAMTRMFBTM is the brevity of its various musical ideas. Wha?! Sure I’m being picky, but there are quite a few good musical ideas in the album that could/should have been more throughly explored. As they stand now, some of the songs have a rather half-baked feel to them. If these musical ideas would have been elaborated on, in my opinion, the album would have had a more complete and full sound overall. Some of the tracks I believe could have been, (and would liked to have seen), explored farther are “Fabulous People” and “It’s Showtime”.

Enough with the cons now onto the reasons why I and perhaps you will love this album. ITS HIGH ENERGY! and unique sound is not only fun to move to but exciting to listen to as well. Using instruments such as the vox, saxophone, synthesizer, clarinet, and piano, on top of the traditional guitars, bass, and drums the Electric Six’s creation has a very unique and attractive sound that’s sure to be a hit with any individual that enjoys rock, electric, or even disco style music.

So if you’ve taken a listen and have a few comments about the album be sure to hit up the comment box box box to share your thoughts.

Crocs Caymans vs. Converse Foot Shoes Posted on by Allen

So sure Crocs look like foot cheese (Swiss Emmental Foot Cheese that is), but in all seriousness as you can see from the below comparison to the left the Crocs Cayman cannot compare to the shear grotesqueness of the foot shoes on the right. The Converse Foot Shoes are malodorous, hideous, and very uncomfortable. In comparison the Caymans are only hideous, which would mean that the Crocs are, by two accounts better than the Foot Shoes. So it would seem that there exists a shoe worse then the Caymans, but how much worse are they? To find out, our investigation probed the opinions/reactions of three anonymous individuals who will from now until the end of the pseudo scientific experiment be identified as Indiv1, Indiv2, and Indiv3. So now onto the meat!

Mildly Ugly Shoes
Crocs Black Cayman

Neither shoe is very visually appealing. This is what Indiv1 indicated to us after we investigated how inviting the unique appearance of each instance of shoe was. This mild mannered individual whose previous past times included viewing movies, art, and nature landscapes was changed after participating in our test (but as in all social dilemmas the sacrifice of one for the group is always viewed as the right path to take). Our tests was set up with Indiv1 being exposed to both shoes at once and picking from the two which shoe was less of an eyesore. Sadly enough we discovered there was a problem with the test though. The idea that the combined presence of the shoes might be too much of an eyesore for any single individual to absorb at once never occurred to the testing staff. Due to this oversight we send our deepest condolences and cheapest care package to Indiv1 whose sacrifice will never be forgotten by the footwear fashion community. Heres to Indiv1!

Indiv2 was and is a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur and an individual with a particularly sensitive nose. The individual was blindfolded and exposed to the left (shoe) of each style. But, before his reaction to the footwear it might be helpful to understand the conditions of our experiment. Both shoes were obtained and maintained in a pristine state. Neither shoe was ever worn nor was either shoe exposed to an environment that the other had not. So to test the odor of one shoe against the other the individual who was blindfolded, was exposed to each shoe from a distance of one foot for approximately five minutes. The first shoe which was the Cayman conjured no reaction from our participant. Upon exposure to the second shoe this same individual began to involuntarily vomit and scratch at his face. After the ordeal this comment was made about the second shoe, “What in holy Helena’s hell did you place in that room! I felt my nostrils melt and my lungs gelling! The first five minutes were fine, but the second set of time darn near killed my children’s children!”. Needless to say we took this as a point for the Caymans.

One Ugly Foot
The hideous Foot Shoes

After being exposed to both shoes in a double blind, triple false, pacing experiment Indiv3 made the following remarks about the Caymans (the second shoe worn): “At first it seemed as if I was walking on mutilated mammal flesh. The shoes were warm with no firm support and had this awkward habit of sticking to my socks. In comparison the shoes I have on now are similar to plodding through aged cool whip. After each step the form of the shoe returns to its original state and this is good because it offers a soft step but firm support. These shoes are definitely the real deal”. This testimony seems to support the statement that Caymans are better than Foot shoes when it comes to comfort. Upon the conclusion of this test we had collected enough information that yes indeed our hypothesis was confirmed and the Caymans have one upped the Foot Shoes and proven not to be the worst shoe of them all.

Now you might say my argument is asinine maybe absurd and I am aware that individuals are entitled to their respective opinions about fashion, but in all seriousness can anyone refute the statement that the Foot Shoes are overall less appealing than the Crocs Caymans? If you think you can I implore you to hit up the comment box box box. Oh and as a side note this is a totally fictional idea.

Bamboo Blade 5 Posted on by Eddie
bambooep5_1.gif
Sayako, the habitual line-stepper.

I’ll admit that Bamboo Blade took a few episodes to get going. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was going to very good. Of course, a show about Kendo had the potential to be interesting. Additionally, mediocre reviews of the manga and a slow moving start made me wary. However, with the addition of newer characters, such as Sayako, and as we learn more about the personalities of the existing characters, Miya for example, the show becomes much more interesting. And of course, there is Tamaki’s great sense of justice brought on by the most amazing show ever, Blade Braver. As such, I think that this is this is the best episode yet.

The episode starts with Sayako wanting to spar with Tamaki, which turns out to be a great blow to her confidence, as well as her head See above figure. As it turns out, the club is going to be having a practice match with Kenzo’s team today, so they are all waiting in anticipation.

bambooep5_2.gif
Another gangster face courtesy of Miya-Miya.

Kojiro, their sensei, encourages Miya-Miya to do her best, even though she lacks the formal training necessary to win. That doesn’t seem to bother her, however, as long as she can inflict some pain. I much prefer the real Miya-Miya to her dainty false exterior, hopefully someone opens up this can of worms soon, since apparently Kojiro is already aware of it.

bambooep5_3.gif
YOU SHALL NOT PASS

Sayako seems to be suffering most of the emotional abuse, as Kojiro’s explosive encouragement for her not to lose in the practice match adds to her previous loss by the hands of justice.

bambooep5_4.gif
Everyone is pumped and ready for battle.

Kenzo has a bit of trouble getting his five girls together, encountering problems such as nausia, panic attacks, unconsciousness, and perhaps the diabeetis. This must be very beneficial for our friends, as they happen to be lacking one of the five girls necessary for competition. Who will be the fifth?

Anyway, here is episode five:
