Windows users need not apply. Though it’s been out for a while, I finally looked into MacFuse, which allows one to implement various file systems into OS X. Ported from Linux by Google, there are already many file systems supported. The ones that interest myself happen to be sshfs and ftpfs.

As you can see in my cluttered screenshot below, I used the sshfs along with MacFusion to mount my Dreamhost account for this here web site. Which is really cool because it acts just like a normal hard drive in finder, and I can just drag and drop files. Additionally, I can edit the files directly in TextMate, which as you know from my previous post is the best text editor in the computarland.

Anyway, in order to achieve this awesomeness:

1) Download MacFuse from Google here.
2) Install MacFuse.
3) Download the latest version of MacFusion from here.

Hello, esteemed viewers of this establishment. I thought that I would make a small update just to keep you on your toes, so I have slaved long and hard to bring you two manga that are more likely to be unknown to you. In the somewhat near future I will have more substantial content to bring you, but until then:

High School Of The Dead

Night, Day, Dawn, House, and Plane of the Dead are all taken. What’s missing? High Schools. There isn’t enough jailbait/zombie action going around, and this manga aims to correct that. Like the movies, there is less story and instead more “ass-tion” (action/jailbait hybridization).

What else isn’t there enough of in manga today? Balls. True to the name, this is a comedy manga about a guy and his balls. Don’t let the name fool you, there isn’t hot steamy man love inside (sorry to disappoint you Allen). Anyway, The Queen of Terror is accidentally sealed into Satou Kohta’s balls while he is taking a piss, preventing her from her destruction-reigning duties. Another devil has been sent to release the queen from his balls, in the one way you can imagine. The battle for mankind has begun.

The following is an in-depth analysis of shock sites and shock media, and how much they shock. They will be rated from one to ten in shock factor. Young children, catholic nuns, and lawyers need not view the following. Shock by shock, I will take each one for the team, and prepare all of my fellow internetians for when they encounter one of these unexpectedly.

Here, my friends, is some of the worst the internet currently has to offer (That is, legally). I do not wish to delve into some of the more risky material that is available on the internet, which would make even Sylvester Stallone falter, if just for a moment.

Goatse
Perhaps the one that started it all, Goatse has recieved the most media attention out of all shock media on the internet. Originally goatse.cx, the mighty power of the law caused the original site to go down, but the image persists to this day, on other mirrors, and in the eyes and hearts of the many who succumbed to its glory.
There’s no light on the end of that tunnel.

Lemon Party
At first glance one could hypothesize that this web page is a harmless portrayal of a party between lemons. This person would actually be correct, though not to their own benefit. Dictionary.com reports a lemon as being a yellow oval fruit with juicy acidic flesh. Perhaps I chose the wrong definition, but it still works in my explanation. I am not exactly sure on what testicles taste like, but should they contain a pH of below 7, one could argue that testicles are yellow and oval, and perhaps a fruit as they contain seeds. I would ask that this argument never be made, however.
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.

Meat Spin
Meatspin holds a special place in my heart. Kind of like that one flash video that was guaranteed to make you laugh, Meatspin just has that quirky personality that causes you to become addicted. Perhaps its the song, perhaps its the spinning. Kind of like someone with epilepsy around flashing colors, Meatspin has spinning meat, and a classic 80’s tune.
You spin me right round baby right round.
Rating: 80% chance I would listen to it just for the song.

2 Girls 1 Cup
2 girls 1 cup starts out just fine, a video of two inbred girls getting it on, yee haw. But that’s when the breast milk turns a little sour. What was some lesbian action degrades into some one-on-one shit eating. Yes, you are subjected to one cup, mind you, of shit, and 2 girls. So actually, you can’t really complain about having seen the site, because in this case the url was quite correct. It is what is in the cup that is of the greatest importance. I like to pretend that the two girls are Graham Chapman and Terry Gilliam, and they’re after the holy grail.
I always liked Rocky Road.

Though not a shock site, Mr. Hands is special in that he is the first man to ever die from being anally penetrated by a gigantic horse phallus. Indeed, the Equine flesh saber has been used for many things, but few men have ever withstood its raw power. Mr. Hands was the first man to ever be recorded doing such an act, and for this, he shall forever be remembered.

Perhaps best told by the purveyors themselves, it is the most glorious of videos. Long story short, several years ago, $500 was raised by the members of SomethingAwful forums to pay several Brazilian girls to swap a certain substance in a school classroom. Well that substance was shit and vomit, and it has the prestige of possibly being the most gruesome footage that the internet has produced to date. That didn’t stop me. If you note I have not linked you to the video. Being rather difficult to find these days, rather than host it myself, I would prefer to leave this, for those of you who are strong enough, as a quest to undertake, should you be so inclined to find it. Thus ends my long run-on sentence.

Ever since I bought my first generation Macbook, I hath been a Mac fanboy. The brawn, the beauty, the majesty. And the software. Indeed, I do enjoy much of the software available for OS X. And therefore I’d like to rehash something that has probably been already posted to Digg repeatedly! The difference between mine and the rest of the fish in the sea is that not all of the software I will post is free. Indeed, greatness and freedom do not always go hand-in-hand. -Myself

Alas, I will not give up, because maybe, just maybe, my guide to the greatest Mac software will be recognized, oh yes. Well, on to the meat of this word stew:

TextMate
Simply the greatest programming text editor ever invented. One of the greatest joys about using a mac is the ability to use this program, which blows all other Windows and Unix based alternatives out of the water. Say goodbye to Notepad++ (arguably the best Windows alternative) or vi (shitty command line h4×0r script), fork out the big dollas for this one.

NewsTicker
There is elegance in simplicity. Bring it to your rss feeds, let them scroll at the bottom of your screen, while you do other things. Simple. Easy to remember. I like it.

NewsFire
For those of you who like a little extra spunk in your newsreader, there’s NewsFire. Add a feed and watch it update automatically in a beautiful interface. Additionally, you can add your favorite podcast too, and use this as a replacement for the built-in iTunes podcastmabob.

Media Rage
One of the most difficult things about the move from Windows to OS X was the lack of a good id tagger for music files. Tag n’ Rename is arguably the best tagger for Windows (I know as I’ve tagged thousands of albums with it), however it’s not for Mac. Well, Media Rage is about as close as you can get. Not only does it do normal tagging and renaming, it has about 50 other tools for you to use on it’s handy dandy dashboard. Never again will you need tagging software.

Transmit
A great FTP program. Get it and never look back. It’s batch downloader comes in pretty handy, if you know what I mean.

Schoolhouse
It’s what keeps me turning in my assignments on time. If you are in school, you absolutely, posotutley need this application.

Adium
All other chat programs are shit compared to this one, no discussion. All other OS’s envy you for having this software. That includes you, Trillian, Gaim/Pidgin, etc.

OmniWeb
It’s what I’m using to browse this site right now. However, I actually wouldn’t recommend it at the moment, as it currently makes my life a living hell trying to get it to work with web 2.oh. It’s pretty shwing though when it works.

Linkinus
Potentially the only IRC client for OS X that doesn’t suck or look ancient or isn’t some port from another platform. It looks better than Colloquy, and is as powerful as your favorite shell client.

Quicksilver
Apple’s greatest folly in the design of OS X was not building this software into it. By far the most powerful and necessary application in this pitiful excuse for a guide to software. Allows you to quick launch anything with the click of a few keys.

Ah, so you’ve had to fork out a few dollars for the software on this list. Well, that’s okay, you can just brag to your friends like I do about how awesome it is, and how much better OS X and how much more secure and how there are no viruses and how Steve Jobs is sticking it to the man.
